Our Story

A Humble Beginning in Construction

In 1992, at just 24 years old, Jose Luis Cardoso earned his general contractor's license and took the first steps toward building a lifelong career in construction. Starting with humble beginnings, he focused on renovating single-story family homes, where he established a reputation for quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

A Family Partnership: J&J Woodworks

Shortly after, his father, Jose Cardoso, a hardworking retiree from General Motors with 31 years of service, joined him in this promising venture. Together, they founded J&J Woodworks—a name that reflected their shared commitment to family values and excellence. With a focus on building multi-story homes, the company grew quickly, hiring a talented team to manage the increasing scale of their projects.

A Father-Son Legacy of Craftsmanship

For years, the father-son duo worked side by side, sharing their passion for construction and creating homes that stood as testaments to their dedication. Even at the age of 82, when Jose could no longer work alongside his son due to physical limitations, his enthusiasm for the business never waned. Weekly updates on the company's progress kept him connected to the work he loved.

Reimagining the Future: The Birth of JLC Builders, Inc.

In 2023, recognizing the need for evolution and growth, Jose Luis decided to reimagine the business for the future. He founded JLC Builders, Inc., a corporation that builds on decades of experience while embracing modern innovation and industry standards. By 2024, a new contractor’s license was obtained under the JLC Builders name, signaling a fresh chapter for the company.
